Punjabi tawa aloo/masala potato recipe – Spicy, delicious and marianted with right spices and roasted to crisp.
POTATO.. POTATO… Yes!! that one versatile vegatable is seriously a life-saver anytime and ofcourse everytime. we have loadss of recipes using potato, this is punjabi tawa aloo recipe which is simple and quick one.
Rather than making a usual potatofry this taste so good. Potato masalas are well coated and roast them to crisp.You can also try my chettinad potato roast , potato podimas which is equally delicious.
STEP BY STEP PICTURES:
Let’s cut the potato into wedges.. cut halve of the potato,
Cut half of the potato in quarter half
Again, Cut the quarter half of potato to get wedges.
Now par-boil the potato adding little salt..
Drain the water, add our spice powder coriander powder, chilli powder, turmeric powder.
Toss them well and keep aside for 10 mins.
Meanwhile puree onion and garlic
Heat oil in frying pan, add the onion and garlic paste saute till golden
Add chopped green chilli and stir
Puree the tomato
Add tomato puree and cook for 1 minute
Add the potatoes,salt and toss well.
coat the potatos with masala mixture and stir fry every 3 to 4mins . sprinkle some coriender leaves. Punjabi tawa aloo is ready. This tasted spicy,masala are well roasted. Great with roti, naan, rice.

Oil- 2 tbs
turmeric powder- 1 tsp
chilli powder- 1 tbs
coriander powder- 1/2 tbs
garlic- 5 pods
green chilli- 1
salt- to taste.
coriander leaves- 1/2 cup
cut the potatoes into wedges,Par-boil the potato wedges and drain the water.
Add all the spice powder chilli powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder to the wedges,Toss them and keep aside.
Grind onion, garlic to fine paste.
Heat up oil, add the onion paste cook them until the raw smell disappears.
Puree the tomato, add to the onion paste saute them until the onion&tomato mixture well blended.
Now add in the potatoes and stir them until everything is combined.
keep roasting them until the masala well coated on the potato.
