This Simple Homemade Tahini recipe from scratch is truly delicious with perfect seasoning, delightfully flavourful and BETTER than you store-bought!


  • 1 cup Sesame seeds
  • 3 tbs olive oil

To blend:

  • 1 tsp garlic paste
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • 1 tsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 1/2 tsp salt


  1. Dry roast sesame seeds to a light golden color over medium heat.
  2. Add the roasted sesame seeds to a food processor. Pulse the sesame seeds for few seconds
  3. Add olive oil, Pulse again to get a creamy consistency. If it tends to be thick, add some olive oil and pulse again.
  4. Meanwhile, mix garlic paste, cumin powder, salt, lemon juice, and olive oil.
  5. Add the mixture to a tahini paste.
  6. Pulse again to get a tahini recipe. The more you pulse by adding olive oil it becomes creamier.
  7. Homemade Tahini Recipe is ready!


Tips to make Recipe of Tahini:

1. Toast the sesame seeds to a light golden brown, sesame seeds are tiny so burn very easily 

2. Add any types of neutral oil like grapeseed oil, vegetable oil. 

3. My tahini consistency is slightly gritty which is not a problem when you use to make hummus or for a topping. 
4. To get a creamy smooth consistency to use high powder blender like Vitamix. 

5.Pulse and scrape down the bottom frequently to make sure all the seeds are incorporated
