This paneer Tikka recipe is deceptively simple and easy to make with the marination of yoghurt and spices make it’s delicious. It’s then seasoned with curry leaves and some spices give you perfect flavour and FABULOUS paneer tikka on Tawa.

What is paneer Tikka?

Paneer tikka is an Indian dish made with chunks of paneer and marinated with yoghurt and some spices, cooked paneer tikka on tawa, grilled in oven/tandoor.

How to make Paneer tikka step by step :

To a mixing bowl, add yogurt, ginger garlic paste.

Add chilli powder and turmeric powder and salt.

Whisk them to make a thick paste.

mix well and marinate for 15 to 30 mins.

To the Tawa, heat 2 tbsp gingelly oil and cook the paneer thoroughly all the sides

fry the cottage cheese till they are golden. collect the cooked paneer in a bowl and keep aside.

heat-up gingelly oil, add cumin seeds, fennel seeds, chopped garlic let it sizzle for few seconds.

Now add a sprig of curry leaves and dry red chilli, stir and cook for few seconds.

Then add chopped onion, stir and cook for 1 or 2 mins.

Tips to make paneer tikka recipe:

1.Paneer/cottage cheese: Paneer is widely available in any grocery store, if you live abroad please check near the Asian section or any Indian supermarket you will surely find them. Also making paneer is easy to make, To know how to make homemade paneer check my faqs section below.

2. Marination: Marination is key to make a juicy paneer tikka. You can also do the overnight marination.

3. For more flavours, you may use ghee/clarified butter.

4. Onions have to be cooked translucent to get a light crunchy taste.

1. How to make homemade paneer?

Bring milk to boil in a heavy bottom pot. When the milk comes to boil, pour 1 tbs of lemon juice, Immediately you can see the entire milk begins to curdle
Once, it starts to curdle, turn off the heat. Pour it in a thin cheesecloth-lined over the colander and rinse in running water to remove the smell of the lemon juice.
Make a tight knot to a cheesecloth and squeeze more liquids. Place the muslin cloth on the plate with weight/heavy object on top. Let it sit for an hour.
Remove the muslin cloth, you get the thick creamy panner is ready! From 1 litre of full-fat milk ideally, you should get 100gms of paneer

2. How do you make frozen paneer soft?

If the paneer has not softened after bringing to room temperature, you can immerse the paneer in warm water for 5 minutes. The water should be enough to cover all the paneer cubes.

3. How do you cook paneer tikka in the oven?

Pre-heat your oven 400 F/ 200 C For 10 minutes prior baking
Thread the paneer cubes in wooden skewers and place on the baking tray, spray oil on top, bake for 15 to 20 mins, turning halfway, till they are nice and golden.

4. How to cook paneer tikka recipe in the microwave?

Paneer cubes can be threaded to skewers or arranged in a shallow bowl, microwave high on 3 to 5 mins, till they are golden in colour.

5.can I replace tofu for this recipe?

2 tbsp gingelly oil (any vegetable oil can be used)
For marination:
200 grams/ 1cup – paneer /cottage cheese.
3 tbs yogurt
1tbs ginger garlic paste
1tbs chili powder
1tsp turmeric powder
1tsp salt

For seasonings:
1tsp fennel seeds
1tsp cumin seeds
1Tbs garlic (chopped)
3 dry red chilies
2 sprigs of curry leaves
1 onion
a pinch of salt.


Instructions

Instructions:
Prep work: Cut paneer/cottage cheese into a cubes
grind ginger garlic paste and keep the ingredients ready.

Marination:
