Indian dessert made of cottage cheese, milk, condensed milk and handful of nuts basically simple to make and its creamy, rich, absolutely delicious with mega flavors! You can’t resist the taste of the dessert,and the BEST part is, everything is under 20 mins!

Paneer Kheer is an indian dessert made with cottage cheese, milk and added lots of dry fruits.

How do you make paneer Kheer/paneer payasam?

Here is the quick overview to make paneer kheer/paneer payasam,

Firstly,Crumble or grate the paneer, Heat up milk over a medium hot, bring to boil. Pour in sweetened condensed milk and a pinch of cardamon powder.

Add in crumbled paneer give a gentle mix. Golden fry the chopped nuts in ghee and pour over the kheer.

How do you make homemade paneer?

Bring milk to boil in a heavy bottom pot.When the milk comes to boil, pour 1 tbs of lemon juice or 1 tbs of curd or  1 tsp of vinegar. Immediately you can see the entire milk begins to curdle

Once, it starts to curdle, turn off the heat. Pour it in a thin cheesecloth lined over the colander and rinse in running water to remove the smell of the lemon juice.

Make a tight knot to a cheesecloth and squeeze more liquids. Place the muslin cloth on the plate with weight/heavy object on top. Let it sit for an hour.

Remove the muslin cloth, you get the thick creamy panner is ready!.

From 1 litre of full-fat milk ideally, you should get 100gms of paneer.

How to soften frozen paneer?

If the paneer has not softened after bringing to a room temperature, you can immerse the paneer in warm water for  5 minutes. The water should be enough to cover all the paneer cubes.

Can I replace tofu for this recipe?

Yes, Absolutely!

Grate the tofu and add in. You can follow the same method to make the kheer. However, there would be a slight change in the taste and flavour.

Can I make vegan kheer?

Yes, substitute cottage cheese to Tofu, you can add coconut milk instead of regular milk and for the condensed milk add 3/4th cup of sugar.

Serving Suggestions: 

You can serve the kheer warm or chilled. Refrigerate kheer for 30 mins before you serve. I personally love to serve this kheer chilled.

   Step by step to make paneer Kheer:

Crumble the paneer OR Grate the paneer in a bowl
Milk is poured in a pan and heated up till its boil
Bring the milk to boil over a medium heat ,it takes around 8 to 10 mins. Keep stirring in between. 
Add condensed milk to a boiling milk
Once the milk has boiled well and lightly thickens up, pour in condensed milk.
Add in 3 crushed Cardamom powder
Add crushed Cardamom powder
Add in crumbled paneer to the boiling milk
Add in crumbled paneer, Give a quick stir.

Bring the milk to boil.. it takes around 5 mins
heat up the ghee in a small pan
Now, Heat up the some ghee in a small pan.
Add chopped nuts to a ghee
Add in chopped nuts, I had cashews in hand so added it, you can add raisins, almonds and any dry fruits.
once it turns golden brown add in to the kheer

 Paneer kheer is ready
Paneer Kheer is ready to be served!

Description

Paneer kheer is simple and easy dessert that you can make in no-time. The bites of the tiny bits of crumbled paneer taste so heavenly completely drenched with sweetened milk.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup Paneer
  • 4 cups Milk
  • 4 tbs condensed milk
  • 1 tsp Cardamom powder
  • 1 tbs chopped nuts
  • 1 tbs ghee

Instructions

  1. Crumble the paneer..
  2. Bring the milk to boil, for me it takes 10 mins.
  3. Add condensed milk and Elachi powder, let it boil for 3-5 mins..
  4. Add crumbled paneer an mix them well.. let it boil for 3 to 5 mins..
  5. Fry the chopped nuts in hot ghee and Add in to kheer
  6. Now, PANEER KHEER IS READY!!
