This monkey bread recipe is all about the cinnamon, butter, and sugar, which makes the whole house smell divine.

How to make monkey bread:

To a mixing bowl or a stand mixer, pour in warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Set aside for 5 to 8 minutes.

Now you can see bubbles all over it means the yeast has proofed.

Add egg, butter, flour, and salt.

Mix in high speed to knead the dough for 3 minutes, continue kneading to make a smooth ball.

Transfer the dough to an oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth or cling wrap and set aside for 2 hours.

After 2 hours, the dough has doubled in size.

It’s time to make the bread, punch out the air from the dough and knead for few seconds.

Take melted butter in a bowl, mix some sugar and cinnamon on a small plate.

Roll dough to a small-sized ball, you need not be perfect, just roll randomly.

Dip each ball in melted butter. (Keep the leftover melted butter, you need the leftover to make drizzling syrup)

Place them in your cake pan. Cover with closing wrap, Set aside for 20 minutes. (Remember to preheat your oven 10 minutes prior baking)

These are the drizzling syrup. I have taken leftover melted butter, brown sugar, and vanilla essence.

Now its time to bake! Bake on the preheated oven 350 degrees F/ 177 degrees C for 25 minutes.

Tips to make this Monkey Bread Recipe

1. Knead the dough by hand for 2-3 minutes. Traditionally such practices have found to be adding the warmth of the hand to the dough, allowing it to rise better.

2. Make the butter syrup with brown sugar which adds to the richness of the flavor.

3. Allow the dough to rise by covering it with a wet kitchen towel or cling wrap for 2-3 hours or until it is double its size.

4. You could dip each dough ball in the butter-sugar syrup or just pour them all together over the stuffed dough in the pan. Ensure the syrup reaches all the nooks and crannies of the pan.

1. Can I use a bread pan or a cake pan instead of the bundt pan?

Yes, definitely. However, make sure to control the oven temperature by turning the pan midway.

2. How to reheat the easy monkey bread?

If it is still not polished off, you could always microwave it for 1 minute or so.

Yes, you can reduce the sugar to not more than half the quantity.

  • 2.5 cups of all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup milk (warm)
  • 2 teaspoon yeast
  • 3 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/3 cup melted butter
  • Salt

For coating:

  • 1/2 cup butter (melted)
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 2 teaspoon cinnamon powder

To make a Drizzle:

  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla essence

Instructions

To make the dough:

  • To a mixing bowl or a stand mixer, pour in warm milk, sugar, and yeast. Set aside for 5 to 8 minutes.
  • Now you can see bubbles all over the yeast, it means the yeast has proofed.
  • Add egg, butter, flour, and salt.
  • Mix in high speed to knead the dough for 3 minutes, continue kneading to make a smooth ball.
  • Transfer the dough to an oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth or cling wrap and set aside for 2 hours to rise/proof for 1st time.
  • After a couple of hours, the dough would be doubled in size.

To make bread:

  • It’s time to make the bread, punch out the air from the dough and knead for few seconds.
  • Take melted butter in a bowl and mix some sugar and cinnamon mixture on a small plate.
  • Take dough roll on your palm to make a bites-sized ball, you need not be perfect, just roll randomly.
  • Dip each ball in melted butter. (Keep the leftover melted butter, you need the leftover to make drizzling syrup)
  • Rollover on the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
  • Arrange them in your cake pan. Cover with cling wrap, Set aside for 20 minutes. (Remember to preheat your oven 10 minutes prior baking)
  • Let the dough proof for 2nd time.

To make Drizzling syrup:

  • I have taken leftover melted butter, brown sugar, and vanilla essence. Mix to combine well.
  • Just before you bake, pour the brown sugar syrup all over.
  • Now its time to bake! Bake on the preheated oven 350 degrees F/ 177 degrees C for 25 minutes.
