Make this prawn ghee roast that is succulent, flavourful with freshly ground masala makes it a classic comfort Food!
Ingredients
3 tablespoon Ghee
Marinade:
- 1/2 kg Prawns
- 1/4 cup curd/yogurt
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
To Grind:
- 6 dry red chilies
- 1 tablespoon coriander seeds
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 1/2 teaspoon fenugreek seeds
- 10 garlic cloves
- 1 lemon sized ball tamarind
- 1/4 cup water
Instructions
Wash and devein the prawns.
To Marinade te prawns: Take prawns/shrimp, curd, turmeric powder, salt, and lemon juice in a mixing bowl.
Mix to combine and let it marinate for 5 minutes.
To grind Masala:
Meanwhile will make a Masala, I have taken dry red chilies, coriander seeds, garlic cloves, cumin seeds, fenugreek seeds, tamarind.
Add into the blender and 1/4 cup of water. Grind to a smooth paste and set aside.
To cook prawns: Add 1 tablespoon ghee to the pan,add marinated prawns
Stir fry the prawns to cook. Collect the cooked prawns in a bowl and set aside.
To make prawn Ghee roast:
To the same pan or Kadai add 2 tablespoon ghee.
Add the ground masala. Stir fry the masala for 4 to 5 minutes.
You can see a thin glaze of oil on the sides of the pan and the masala is slightly darkened.
Add the cooked prawns. Mix well and cook for 1 minute to the prawns to be coated with the masala.

Ghee: Add good quality ghee for the best flavors.
The flavors amicably depend on ghee, adding generous ghee for prawn ghee roast makes it scrumptious.
Prawns: You may use any sized prawns for this recipe, make sure to clean and devein them before you cook.
Marination: You can marinate the prawns for overnights.
