Manglore bonda

Ingredients

  • Maida- 1 cup
  • Curd- 1/2 cup
  • Hing- 1tsp
  • coconut- 3 tbs
  • ginger- 1 tbs
  • chilli- 2- 3
  • Ghee- 1 tbs
  • baking soda- 1 tsp
  • salt- to taste

Instructions

  1. Grind coconut+ginger+g.chilli into a fine paste
  2. In a mixing bowl add ghee, baking soda,salt and keep mixing them for 2 mins, until it turns out creamy.
  3. Now add maida,hing, grinded coconut mixture and curd mix everything well to the bonda consistency.
  4. Heat up the oil in the wok.
  5. Take a round ball, and drop them gently and fry until until they are golden brown.
  6. Quick and Easy Manglore bonda is ready!!!

Notes

Add curd little by little to make the bonda consistency.
You can also add some Peppercorns, crushed curry leaves for extra flavours.
keep the flame in low- medium

  2. First of all it’s a fantastic recepie …..
    My question is can we use something else instead of Maida ?

    1. Hi Saurabh, Thanks for your comment.
      The traditional manglore bonda is made out of maida.But however you can also make bonda in urud dal.soak the urud dal in enough water for 5to 6 hours. drain the urud dal. In a blender grind the lentils till smooth and fluffy adding little water. Pour the batter in the bowl and add rest all ingredients.
