How to make Easy Indian Butter Chicken Recipe:

In a mixing bowl, add chilli powder, turmeric powder, ginger garlic paste, cumin powder, fennel powder, salt and dried fenugreek leaves

Add yoghurt/curd

whisk everything to make smooth paste

Add chicken pieces

mix well and marinate for 10 mins
butter is being heated up in saute pan
Heat up butter in saute pan
marinated chicken pieces are added to saute pan
Add the marinated chicken pieces and cook for 8 to 10 mins
chicken pieces are browned well in saute pan
Chicken has been cooked in butter. Turn off the heat.

collect your chicken pieces in small plate and keep aside.

Now, Puree the tomatoes to a very smooth paste
butter is heated up in saute pan
In the same pan, heat up butter
tomato puree from the blender jar is being added to saute pan
Pour in tomato puree

let it cook for 5 to 8 mins
gingergarlic paste is being added to tomato paste in saute pan
Add ginger garlic paste
tomato puree is being sauted well in saute pan
keep sauting until the raw smell of the ginger garlic paste leaves off
A bowl of spice powders are being added to tomato puree
Add chilli powder, turmeric powder and salt
well sauted tomato puree in saute pan
keep sauting for few more mins, until you see a thin glaze of butter on sides

Add chicken pieces
milk is being added to pan
In goes some milk
chicken is being cooked in saute pan
stir for few seconds
butter chicken is being cooked in saute pan
when you can see a thin glaze of butter on sides.
fresh cream is being added to saute pan
Add fresh cream and cook for just for 1 minute
dried fenugreek leaves are sprinkled on top of butter chicken
crush some dried fenugreek seeds and sprinkle on top. Delicious butter chicken is ready!

Ingredients

Scale
  • Chicken- 1/2 kg
  • Butter- 1 tbs

To marinate:

  • 1 tbs Chilli powder
  • 1 tsp Turmeric powder
  • 11/2 tsp Ginger garlic paste
  • 1 tsp cumin powder
  • 1 tsp fennel powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp dried fenugreek leaves
  • 2 tbs yoghurt

For Butter chicken Gravy:

  • 2 tbs Butter
  • 4 to matoes
  • 2 tsp ginger garlic paste
  • 1 tbs chilli powder
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tbs fresh cream

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, add all the ingredients “ to marinate”.
  2. Add chicken and marinate for 10mins.
  3. Heat up saute pan, add 1 tbs of butter and saute the chicken and collect the cooked chicken in plate and keep aside.
  4. Puree the tomatoes to smooth paste
  5. In the same pan, add butter, add tomato puree and cook for 5 to 8 mins.
  6. Add ginger garlic paste and saute until the raw smell disappears
  7. In goes the spice powders, salt and saute for 2 to 3 mins.
  8. Add 1/2 cup of water just to scrape out the masala sticking to the pan.
  9. Now, in goes cooked chicken, add milk and cook for few more minutes, till you see the glaze on the sides of the pan.
  10. Add fresh cream and cook for just 1 minute.
  11. Sprinkle some crushed dried fenugreek seeds.
