What is Hoisin sauce?

Hoisin Sauce is a thick, fragrant sauce with dark in color and thick in consistency Originally from China and widely used in Vietnamese cuisine and they called Chinese barbecue sauce.

The Chinese cooking technique involves so many sauces and this Hoisin sauce recipe is popular and versatile.

This sauce is frequently used in Asian cooking and it is commonly used as the marinade to grill meat, stir-fries, or served as dips.

Traditionally hoisin sauce is the combination of black beans that have been fermented, molasses and vinegar, and sesame oil.

I skipped adding such part and made it with the simple with homemade readily available ingredients

The hoisin sauce ingredients are Peanut butter, soy sauce, garlic, hot sauce, honey, sesame oil, Chinese seasonings, vinegar, pepper powder, and garlic.

How to make Hoisin sauce:

Add all the ingredients to a small saucepan.

Over low heat, stir for 2 minutes. The sauce would thicken and smooth. Turn off the heat. Hoisin sauce is ready to be used.

  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoon peanut butter
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 2 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoon hot sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Chinese seasonings.

Instructions

  1. These all the ingredients to make hoisin sauce.
  2. Add all the ingredients to a small saucepan.
