Green Bean Casserole Recipe (From Scratch)

Description

The Green Bean Casserole recipe is all from the Scratch, it incredibly easy to make with homemade fried onions and homemade cream of Mushroom soup, this recipe  will certainly blow your mind.


Ingredients

Air fried Onions: 

  • 4 onions 
  • 1/2 cup panko bread crumbs 
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour 
  • 1 teaspoon pepper powder 
  • 1 teaspoon salt 
  • 1 egg 
  • 1 tablespoon milk 
  • 2 tablespoon vegetable oil

Green bean Casserole: 

  • 1/2 kgs Greenbeans 
  • 2 tablespoon butter 
  • 3 garlic cloves
  • 1 cup mushroom 
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper powder 
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili flakes 
  • 1/2 teaspoon oregano
  • 3/4 cup chicken stock 
  • 1/2 cup Fresh cream
  • 1.5 tablespoon All-purpose flour. 
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Instructions

To Air fry the onions: 

 

  1. Preheat Airfry for 400 degrees for 5 minutes. 
  2. Slice 4 onions thinly, To a bowl, add sliced onions, 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs, 1/2 cup all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon pepper powder, 1 teaspoon salt, 1 egg, 1 tablespoon milk. Mix well. 
  3. Once the air fryer is preheated. Spread the onion mixture over a basket in one layer. Sprinkle some oil. Close and air fry for 12 minutes, shaking in-between. 

To make mushroom sauce: 

  1. Melt 2 tablespoon butter over medium heat, add 3 minced garlic. Stir and cook for few seconds. 
  2. Add 1 cup mushroom, saute the mushroom for 3 to 4 minutes. 
  3. Add 1/2 teaspoon pepper powder, 1/2 teaspoon chili flakes, 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano. Stir and cook for 3 minutes. 
  4. Add 3/4 of the cup chicken stock. Stir and cook for 2 minutes. 
  5. Meanwhile, blanch green beans in salted water. 
  6. Add fresh cream, once the sauce is lightly thickened, add blanched green beans, Air fryer onions. Give a mix. 
  7. Transfer the green bean mixture to a casserole, sprinkle fried onions, and panko bread crumbs. Bake in the oven for 10 to 15 minutes 400 degrees C/ 200 degrees C. 

 

 

Notes

1. If you want a mild extra flavour, you can boil the green peas in chicken broth and add it to the bean mixture before baking. 

2. If you like spicy dishes, you can give this bean dish a twist by adding jalapenos or even olives for extra flavour in addition to the pepper. 

3. Use fresh and slender beans go get the perfect texture. Beans that are over ripe will have a fibery texture and will turn hard and stringy. 

4. Pre heat your oven as per instructions so that the beans get baked perfectly inside out.
