Matar Keema/how to make matar keema

  • Chicken/mutton minced – 1/2 kg
  • oil- 1.5 tbs
  • cinnamon- 1 stick
  • cloves- 4
  • cardamamom- 1
  • Onion- 3 medium size
  • Tomato- 2
  • Ginger- 1tsp
  • Garlic- 1tsp
  • chilli powder- 1.5 tbs
  • coriender powder- 1.5 tsp
  • Turmeric powder- 1 tsp
  • Chicken masala/Mutton masala- 1 tsp
  • potato- 1 cup
  • peas- 1/2 cup
  • coriander leaves- 2 tbs


  1. Heat up oil in the wok, add in cinnamon, cloves and cardamom.
  2. Add in onions sauté until it turns translucent.
  3. Add in ginger and garlic and salute them until the raw smell leaves off.
  4. Add in tomato and cook for 2 mins.
  5. Now add all the spice powders- chilli, coriander, turmeric, chicken masala, salt and saute them for another 2 to 3 mins.
  6. Add in minced chicken, potato and sprinkle some water , cover and cook for 5 minutes,
  7. Finally add the peas and cook for another 5 minutes, sprinkle coriander leaves

DSC_6260Heat up the oil in the pan , add cinnamon, cloves,bay leaf,Elachi sauté just for a minute ..

DSC_6261Add in the sliced onions.

DSC_6285Saute the onions until its turns translucent .

DSC_6289Add in the finely chopped garlic

DSC_6293Next the chopped ginger… you can also use the ginger garlic paste.

DSC_6295Saute until the raw smell of the Ginger garlic leaves off..

DSC_6298Add the chopped tomatoes..& sauté it for another 3 mins

DSC_6300Throw in some chilli powder..

DSC_6308Add in coriender powder…

DSC_6311You can add any store bought chicken masala or mutton masala..

DSC_6314Saute until the masala blends well..

DSC_6318Now add the washed keema and potato.. sauté it for a while..

DSC_6331Add the peas..cover and cook for another 5 mins.

Yummy! Spicy chicken Matar keema is ready!! Serve hot with Rice or Roti
