How do you make chicken masala gravy?

Firstly puree onion tomato masala.

Heat up a pan, add oil then seasonings, chopped onion, green chilli and saute until the onions turn translucent.

Then add ginger garlic paste, chopped tomato, curry leaves, all the spice powders. Saute until the raw smell of the spices disappears.

Add in chicken pieces, some water. Cover and cook for few more minutes until the chicken is cooked perfectly.

Which part of the chicken is best to make chicken masala gravy?

Curry cut is best for this recipe. Chicken with bone tastes better! Actually, any part of the chicken can be used for making this curry. Cooking time will vary if you use boneless pieces.

Quality meat: Buying a good quality chicken result in tender and scrumptious chicken masala.

Freshly pound ginger garlic paste: Using homemade ginger garlic paste is always Best than the store bought. It gives super Aramaic flavour.

Of course, You add peas, cauliflower or mushroom along with the chicken. You can add boiled cubed potato only before you take from heat.

Yes, By adding turmeric powder and salt pressure cook the mutton/lamb until its tender, and then add the pieces to the cooking gravy.

How To make Chicken Masala Gravy with Step by Step:

Ingredients to make chicken masala is taken in glass bowl
These all the ingredients to make Chicken Masala
Onions, tomato and fennel seeds are in blender jar
Add Onion, tomato and fennel seeds to a blender
onion is pureed shown in blender jar
Grind to a smooth paste and keep Aside.
Fennelseeds, cinnamon,cloves are seasoned in steel saute pan
Heat up oil in a pan. For seasoning add cinnamon,cloves and fennel seeds.

Add chopped onions and Green chilli
salt is being added in wooden spoon
Add salt to taste and saute for few minutes
Ginger garlic paste, chilli and onions are being cooked in saute pan
Add in gingergarlic paste, keep sauting for 2 to 3mins.

Add ground onion tomato paste and saute for another few minutes
chopped tomato and curryleaves is added to masala
Add chopped tomato and curryleaves, saute for until the tomato turns mushy
spice powders are being cooked in onion tomato masala
Add in chilli powder,coriender powder and turmeric powder.

Saute until the raw smell disappers
chicken pieces are added to onion-tomato masala
Add chicken pieces, keep sauting for 5 mins

Add 1/2 cup to 1 cup of water, stir and cook for 10 to 15 mins.

If there is more water, keep stirring until you get the required consistency.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 kg Chicken
  • 3 onions
  • 2 tomato
  • 2 tbs fennel seeds
  • 1 sprig Curryleaves
  • 1 Green Chilli
  • 1 Cinnamon
  • 3 Cloves
  • 1 tbs chilli powder
  • 1 tbs Gingergarlic paste
  • 1/2 tbs coriander powder
  • 1 tsp turmeric powder
  • 2 tbs Oil
  • 1 tsp Coriander leaves

Instructions

  1. Puree onion, tomato and fennel seeds to a fine paste.
  2. Heat up oil in the pan, add fennel seeds,cinnamon and cloves. Add chopped onion, green chilli saute, until it turns translucent.
  3. Add gingergarlic paste, saute  until the raw smell disappears.

    Add ground onion-tomato paste and saute for few more minutes.

  4. Now add all the spice powders, keep stirring for a minute.
  5. Add chicken , salt and 1/2 to 1 cup of water. cover and cook for 10 to 15 mins over a medium heat. Keep stirring between.
  6. Now the Chicken Masala Gravy is Ready!
