This Classic Caesar Salad is a true testimony. Hail, all ye Salad dressers, onward with the great Caesar dressing

  • 4 Romaine Lettuce leaf
  • 5 capers (optional)

To make Garlic Croutons:

  • 3 bread slices
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic (minced)
  • 1/3 teaspoon black pepper powder
  • 1/3 teaspoon of salt

To make Caesar salad Dressing:

  • 1 teaspoon garlic (minced)
  • 1 teaspoon dijon mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon Worchester sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon Dried basil (option)
  • 2 tablespoon olive oil

 To make Garlic Croutons:

  1. Cut your bread into cubes and place them on the baking tray. Sprinkle 1 teaspoon of olive oil, 1/2 teaspoon of minced garlic, a pinch of pepper and salt. Toss the bread cubes. Spread the bread cubes on a single layer.
  2. Grill on the preheated oven 350 degrees F/ 180 degrees C for 10 to 12 minutes.
  3. You get crispy garlic Croutons.

 Prepare Romaine Lettice.

  1. Wash romaine lettuce a couple of times gently on cold running water, chop them for a bite sized lettuce or simply you can tear off, add to a serving bowl, and set aside.

 Let’s make a salad Dressing:

  1. To a small bowl add all the salad dressing ingredients except oil. Mix them well to combine.
  2. Now, slowly add olive oil whisking the sauce, keep whisking for a few seconds, you will get a creamy Caesar salad dressing. Check for salt now. If anything you want to add to get the taste you want.

  1. Slowly add the Caesar dressing to romaine lettuce. Sprinkle capers and garlic croutons. Toss the salad and serve.

  • Hearty Romaine is the perfect crispy choice, which conquers the dressing very well
  • For the croutons, choose a bread that is preferably a day or two old; fresh bread will take longer to become golden brown
  • Tearing the bread instead of slicing them, adds texture to the salad
  • The trick in drizzling the oil drop by drop, is to avoid breaking of the dressing
  • Grilling the vegetables (in this case, lettuce) always adds an awesome depth of flavour.
  • Tossing the salad by hand is an advantage, for the leaves to be well dressed with the dressing
