- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon Dried basil (option)
- 2 tablespoon olive oil
Instructions
To make Garlic Croutons:
- Cut your bread into cubes and place them on the baking tray. Sprinkle 1 teaspoon of olive oil, 1/2 teaspoon of minced garlic, a pinch of pepper and salt. Toss the bread cubes. Spread the bread cubes on a single layer.
- Grill on the preheated oven 350 degrees F/ 180 degrees C for 10 to 12 minutes.
- You get crispy garlic Croutons.
Prepare Romaine Lettice.
- Wash romaine lettuce a couple of times gently on cold running water, chop them for a bite sized lettuce or simply you can tear off, add to a serving bowl, and set aside.
Let’s make a salad Dressing:
- To a small bowl add all the salad dressing ingredients except oil. Mix them well to combine.
- Now, slowly add olive oil whisking the sauce, keep whisking for a few seconds, you will get a creamy Caesar salad dressing. Check for salt now. If anything you want to add to get the taste you want.
Assemble:
- Slowly add the Caesar dressing to romaine lettuce. Sprinkle capers and garlic croutons. Toss the salad and serve.
Notes
- Hearty Romaine is the perfect crispy choice, which conquers the dressing very well
- For the croutons, choose a bread that is preferably a day or two old; fresh bread will take longer to become golden brown
- Tearing the bread instead of slicing them, adds texture to the salad
- The trick in drizzling the oil drop by drop, is to avoid breaking of the dressing
- Grilling the vegetables (in this case, lettuce) always adds an awesome depth of flavour.
- Tossing the salad by hand is an advantage, for the leaves to be well dressed with the dressing
