Where did buffalo chicken wings originate?
The origin of the name of the recipe itself has nothing to do with actual buffalo.
This recipe for buffalo chicken was once served in anchor bar in New York. Frank and Teressa owned that bar, She came up with the idea for a quick snack.
The chicken wings with sauce are coated with flour, deep-fried and tossed with the sauce!
Sometimes the buffalo chicken is served dry with the sauce on the side or dip for chicken wings.
Why are chicken wings recipe called buffalo wings?
The buffalo wing sauce is the made of butter, hot sauce and cayenne pepper, and the fried chicken is coated to the buffalo sauce.
Now “buffalo” is attached to other times like buffalo shrimp, buffalo pizza which means the sauce is wildly used on chicken wings has been put on other recipes.

3.Consistency: The consistency of the batter has to be enough to coat the chicken.
4.Panko bread crumbs: I have used panko bread crumbs that are widely used in Japanese cuisine, it is just another bread crumb which has more texture.
You may use normal toasted bread crumbs or crushed cornflakes as well.
5.Deep fry: Deep fry the chicken over a low-medium heat to get a golden brown.
Make sure to fry them in low-medium heat that helps the chicken to tender.
6.Homemade buffalo sauce: The real taste of the recipe comes from the homemade buffalo sauce! That is just super easy to make.

Ingredients
- 6 pieces of chicken wings
- 1 cup panko bread crumbs
- 1 cup of vegetable oil
- To make the batter:
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon pepper powder
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1 teaspoon mixed herbs
- 1 teaspoon salt
- Homemade Buffalo Sauce
Instructions
- Heat oil in a very low flame before you make.
- Marinade for chicken wings:
- To a mixing bowl, add all-purpose flour,pepper powder, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, mixed herbs, salt
- Add very little water
- Mix to make a thick batter. The consistency has to be enough to coat the chicken.
- Assemble:
- Keep the chicken, the batter and spread some panko breadcrumbs on the plate.
- Now, take the chicken piece and dip in the batter.
- And place over the panko crumbs
- Roll over the chicken on the bread crumbs to coat thoroughly.
- Deep Fry:
- Once the oil is heated up, place the chicken gently and fry on the low-medium heat.
- Fry till the chicken is golden brown.
- Add the fried chicken in a bowl
- Add some buffalo sauce
- Toss, to coat the chicken in buffalo sauce and serve.
